Abstract

The current research aimed to identify the correlation between academic buoyancy and professional performance among faculty members in light of the type of college, gender and academic degree. It also aimed to identify the possibility of predicting the academic buoyancy among faculty members through their professional performance. The sample of the research consisted of (250) faculty members who responded to the scales of academic buoyancy and professional performance. Results revealed that there was a statistically significant correlation between academic buoyancy (total score- dimensions) and professional performance (total score- dimensions). Thus, it was possible to predict academic buoyancy through the professional performance among faculty members. In addition, there were statistically significant differences between males and females in academic buoyancy (total score- dimensions) and professional performance (total score- dimensions) in favor of males, and also statistically significant differences according to the type of faculty (theoretical - practical) in academic buoyancy (total score -  dimensions) and professional performance (total score - dimensions) in favor of theoretical faculties. Results also revealed that there were statistically significant differences between faculty members according to the academic degree of the faculty member (professor - assistant professor - lecturer) in academic buoyancy (total score- dimensions) in favor of (lecturer), except for the dimension of responsibility and good relations. Moreover, there were statistically significant differences between faculty members according to the academic degree of the faculty member (professor - assistant professor - lecturer) in the dimensions of professional performance in favor of (lecturer), except for the total score of professional performance and the dimension of self-development.
