Abstract

The current study aimed to verify the degree of emotional deprivation contribution to responsibility among orphans residing in care homes of the Ministry of Social Development. To achieve the objectives of the study, the current study was administered to a sample consisting of (302) orphans residing in shelters, and two scales were developed, namely emotional deprivation scale, and holding responsibility, and the psychometric properties of the scales were verified. The results of the study indicated an average level of both emotional deprivation and responsibility. The results also showed that emotional deprivation explains the amount (19 %) in holding responsibility and solving problems, while the study indicated that there are differences in emotional deprivation among some achievement levels. In light of the current results, some recommendations were represented including the need to work on reducing emotional deprivation because of its role in improving orphans' responsibility bearing.
