Requirements of Developing Al-Azhar Model Secondary Education in Light "STEM"

Abstract

This research aimed to identify the philosophical foundations of the "STEM" system, and to identify the status-quo of Al-Azhar Model Secondary Education. As well as, identifying a set of requirements for developing it in light of the "STEM" system. The research made use of the descriptive approach to achieve its objectives and identifying a set of requirements for the development of Al-Azhar Model Secondary Education in light of the "STEM" system, whether legislative, regulatory, Human, material, or financial. The results of the research revealed that the most important requirements were: the necessity of developing legislation to help develop the Al-Azhar Model Secondary Education in light of the "STEM" system, as well as providing qualified leaders, who has a strategic vision and mission for management in the light of "STEM" system. Besides, the research confirmed the necessity to develop the financial funds needed in order to provide the necessary equipment and educational aids. The research also stressed the importance of mastering the skills of working in and leading a research team, showing interest in practical applied research, developing research, developing discovery and creativity skills among students, designing active electronic learning environments in proportion to the abilities and interests of students. Finally, the research recommended a set of recommendations and proposals that contribute to the development of Al-Azhar secondary education model in the light of the "STEM" system.
