Abstract

The aim of the current research is to identify the effectiveness of a proposed strategy based on some linguistic theories (systems and context) in developing the literary text analysis skills of non-native speakers of Arabic. The research sample consisted of 44 students in the first year of secondary school at the Al-Booth Institute for Preparatory and Secondary students in Cairo Governorate. They were divided into an experimental group totaling 22 students, who studied using the proposed strategy, and a control group, totaling 22 students, who studied via the usual method. The research instruments included literary text analysis skills test. The experimental treatment material was also represented in the student's book to study the selected texts in the light of the proposed strategy, and the teacher's guide to implement the proposed strategy by teachers. The results of the research revealed that there is a statistically significant difference at 0.05 level between the mean scores of the students of the experimental group and the control one in the post administration of the literary text analysis test in favor of the experimental group. Such results proved the effectiveness of the proposed strategy in developing literary text analysis skills. The research recommended the necessity of adopting strategies and programs based on linguistic theories such as systems and context theories in teaching literary texts to non- native speakers of Arabic.
