The Status-Quo of Academic Leaders’ Commitment to the Ethics of Professional Academic Behavior: A Field Study at the Faculties of King Khalid University

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the reality of commitment of academic leaders in faculties of KingKhalidUniversity to the ethics of academic professional behavior from the point of view of faculty members. To achieve the goal of the study, a questionnaire consisting of (33) phrases was used, divided into two axes: (Ethics of personal aspects -Ethics of professional aspects). It was distributed to a sample of faculty members at the faculties of KingKhalidUniversity in the main headquarters in Abha, amounting to (330) male and female faculty members. The study reached a set of results, the most important of which are: that the study sample members gave a "high" degree of approval to the reality of academic leaders' commitment to the faculties of KingKhalidUniversity in the two axes of the study. The study also demonstrated the existence of statistically significant differences according to the gender variable in favor of "females", and the college variable in the (Ethics of personal aspects) dimension in favor of theoretical colleges. There are no statistically significant differences according to the college variable in the (Ethics of professional aspects) dimension, and according to the number of years of experience variable. Considering the results, the study presented several recommendations and suggestions.
