Abstract

This research aimed at developing the geography curriculum for the second year of secondary school in the light of the awareness of global climate change. The researcher made use of the experimental method utilizing one group consisting of (30) students. The research also developed a list of global climate change awareness requirements for the second year secondary stage students, and a scoring rubric for assessing the awareness dimensions, namely (cognitive, emotional, and behavioral). The results indicated that there were statistically significant differences at (0.01) level between the mean scores of the experimental group students on the global climate change’s scale in the pre and post testing in favor of the post test. Such results confirmed the effectiveness of the new curriculum in raising the awareness of the global climate changes among students. The research recommended enhancing the awareness of global climate change so as to be a major goal of teachning geography for all study years. Such goal can be achieved through all curriculum aspects. It also recommended using the research tools in developing the geography curriculum.
