Societal Creativity Is It the Creativity of Society? . . . . . Or the Creative Society?

Abstract

This study aimed at defining societal innovation as a recent and unpobular hypothetical construct. The study discussed the realationships and the interchanging effects between culture and creativity within a social context. After reviewing some cross-cultural studies, it was evident that cultures differ in their concept of creativity, the criteria used to evaluate creative products and in each culture's point of view of individual's creative characteristics. From the previous studies a systemic definition for society creativity was developed. Its characteristics and indicators were discussed.  Besides, some of its relationships with knowledge society were reviewed.
