Dogmatism and Alexithymia as Predictors of Emotional Divorce among the Married

Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the relationship of both dogmatism and and alexithymia with emotional divorce among the married, and the posiibility of predicting emotional divorce through dogmatism and alexithymia. The researcher used the correlative descriptive approach. The study sample consisted of (322) couples from Giza. The study used dogmatism scale (prepared by the researcher), Tornoto alexithymia scale (translated by the researcher) and emotional divorce scale (prepared by the researcher). The results refered to a positive correlative relationship between both dogmatism and alexithymia with emotional divorce. The results also refered to the possibility of predicting emotional divorce through dogmatism and alexithymia. The results were interpreted in terms of the previous research of the same field; thus, the researcher presented some recommendations and suggested research.
