Designing a Proposed Science Curriculum Based on Problem Solving among Kindergarten Pupils

Abstract

This study aimed at developing a problem solving-based science curriculum for kindergarten pupils in Saudi Arabia. The study consisted of two folds: the first: qualitative, and it included how to design this curriculum, including the assumptions, the foundations on which it will be built, and the elements of this curriculum. The second fold addressed the quantitative part to survey the opinion of early childhood specialists in this curriculum. The stratified random sample was selected from specialists and those interested in early childhood stage, (totaling 55) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia during the 2020 academic year. The researcher prepared an instrument to identify the partcipants opinions of this proposed curriculum. The results of this study showed a full science suggested curriculum based on problem solving which is offered to kindergarten students, and which has been approved to a large degree by specialists and those interested in kindergarten programs.
