Self-Awareness and Its Correlation with Psychological Immunity among Teachers of Disabled Learners at Jazan Directorate of Education

Abstract

The present research aimed to identify self-awareness and its correlation with psychological immunity among teachers of people with disabilities in the Jazan Education Department and the possibility of predicting psychological immunity through self-awareness. The researchers used the relational descriptive approach, the research sample consisted of (284) teachers from teachers working with children with difficulties in the Jazan Education directorate, with random way in the first semester of the academic year 1442/1443 AH. To achieve the research aims, answer its questions, and test the validity of hypotheses, the researchers administered the Psychological Immunology Scale (prepared by the two researchers), and the Self-Awareness Scale (prepared by Qara Gholy, 2011). Furthermore, the research made use of a single-group t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple-graded regression analysis. Results indicated that there is: a high level of psychological immunity and self-awareness among teachers of people with disabilities in the Jazan Department of Education, a positive and statistically significant correlation between psychological immunity and self-awareness, and possibility of predicting psychological immunity through self-awareness. The results were discussed in the light of the need to design the counseling  intervention to strengthen the psychological immunity of teachers with disabilities, to develop their personal competence to face their academic problems.
