Etiquette of the Teacher and Learner in the Light of the Writings of Ibn Sahnoun and Al-Qabesi and Their Educational Implications in the School Field

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the most prominent literature related to the teacher and the learner mentioned in the writings of Ibn Sahnoun and Al-Qabesi in order to reach the educational implications in the school field that related to the teacher and the learner from the religious, moral and social aspects. The results of the study reveled the importance of learning Holy Qur’an and its guidance in socializing young people on the correct religious foundations. Education is not limited to boys, but it includes girls, as Islam and its rulings and legislation are imposed on all Muslim, males, and females.  Both Ibn Sahnoun and Al-Qabesi focused on that the most important educational curricula that boys should study is the Noble Qur’an and what is attached. Both Ibn Sahnoun and Al-Qabesi confirmed the importance of justice among boys and made it their right to the teacher in education. They stressed the necessity of kindness between them, and both Ibn Sahnoun and Al-Qabisi proved that with hadiths from the Sunnah of the Prophet. Both Ibn Sahnoun and Al-Qabisi emphasized the punishment in education, i.e. compulsory education for children. Both Ibn Sahnoun and Al-Qabesi specified the holidays in which the boy should rest, which are the holidays, Muslim holidays, and the weekly holiday that starts from the evening of Thursday and includes Friday. Both of them specified a wage for the teacher on the condition that s/he teaches well, and each of them set conditions and controls for this wage.
