Abstract

The present study aimed to uncover the effectiveness of a counseling program based on family therapy for SATER in developing the communication patterns of mothers who visit the Family Protection Unit in Jordan. To achieve the objectives of the study, a measure of communication styles was developed and distributed in four dimensions: (satisfactory, rational and harmonious), and a counseling program based on family therapy for Satyr was prepared. The sample of the study consisted of (22) mothers who were randomly divided into two equal groups: the experimental group (n = 11) for whom the counseling program was applied and the control group (n = 11) for whom the program was not applied. The results showed that there are statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups in the average scores on the scale of communication patterns in the post-test and in favor of the experimental group, which indicates the effectiveness of the counseling program. The results of the follow-up tests also showed no statistically significant differences in the patterns of communication. In light of these results, the researchers recommended the necessity of implementing the current study program, through its strategies and activities to work on developing positive communication patterns and reducing negative communication patterns among mothers who visit the Family Protection Unit. And attention to mothers who are referred to the Family Protection Unit by counselors in order to deal with them properly.
