Differentiating data mining patterns to develop cyber security skills among middle school students

Abstract

           The research aimed to develop cyber  security skills with its cognitive and skill aspects among third-year Al-Azhar preparatory school students, through teaching cyber security using the data mining (generative/cluster) pattern, as the research relied on designing the quasi-experimental curriculum for the two experimental groups, on a random sample of (50) students from third-year Al-Azhar preparatory school students, according to (25) students for the generative experimental group, and (25) students for the cluster experimental group, where the experimental group (1) was taught using the generative data mining pattern; and the experimental group (2) was taught using the cluster data mining pattern; The research materials and tools included a cyber security skills questionnaire, a cyber security objectives questionnaire, a graduated scale for cyber  security skills, and a cyber  security test. The tools were presented to the arbitrators, and modifications were made in light of their guidance. A pilot application of the research tools was conducted, and the results of its data were statistically processed. The equivalence of the two groups was verified in the cyber  security achievement test and the graduated performance scale for cyber  security skills before implementing the final experiment. After applying the experimental treatment material to the research sample and applying the research tools before and after, and using appropriate statistical methods, the results showed a statistically significant difference at the level of (0.05) between the average scores of the research sample in the post-application of the generative experimental group in the graduated scale for cyber  security skills. The results also showed a statistically significant difference at the level of (0.05) between the average scores of the research sample in the post-application of the generative experimental group in the cyber  security test.
