Abstract

The research aimed to identify the role of artificial intelligence in achieving academic excellence at Al-Azhar University. This was accomplished through an analytical theoretical framework that clarifies the concept of academic excellence, its philosophy, objectives, criteria, and indicators of excellence in higher education institutions. Additionally, the research aimed to understand the conceptual framework of artificial intelligence and its most important applications that contribute to achieving academic excellence at Al-Azhar University. The research employed a descriptive method, utilizing a questionnaire as its function, consisting of (49) statements. This questionnaire was administered to a sample of (395) faculty staff at Al-Azhar University. The research, in both its theoretical and field aspects, concluded that artificial intelligence contributes to achieving academic excellence in the university's three main functions: teaching, scientific research, and community service. Furthermore, it contributes to achieving excellence in administration through its ability to enhance the quality of the educational process, support academic research, handle and analyze massive amounts of data and information rapidly and with extreme accuracy, assist in studying community needs and providing services that align with those needs, and transform traditional administrative systems into electronic systems, Furthermore, the research found that the role of artificial intelligence applications in achieving academic excellence at Al-Azhar University was realized to a large extent. The areas of academic excellence were ranked as follows: (excellence in teaching, excellence in scientific research, then excellence in community service, and finally excellence in administration). The research also found no statistically significant differences between the responses of the sample members based on the gender variable for the overall targets of the questionnaire, as well as its sub-target, except for the first and fourth targets, where statistically significant differences were found in favor of males. In addition, no statistically significant differences were found between the responses of the sample members based on the academic degree variable for the overall targets of the questionnaire, as well as its sub-targets. The research recommended the necessity of providing training opportunities for faculty members and university staff on the use and application of artificial intelligence in teaching, scientific research, community service, and modern management methods.
