Abstract

The study aimed to examine the relationship between digital self-efficacy, future orientation, and students’ attitudes toward the use of artificial intelligence (AI) applications, as well as the extent to which students' attitudes can be predicted based on their digital self-efficacy and future orientation. Additionally, it sought to identify differences in digital self-efficacy, future orientation, and attitudes toward AI applications based on gender and research stage. The study was conducted on a sample of 534 postgraduate students from the faculties of education at Al-Azhar University, aged between 24 and 40 years (M = 34.04, SD = 4.561). The researcher developed and used scales for digital self-efficacy, future orientation, and students’ attitudes toward AI applications, employing a descriptive research methodology. The statistical analyses, interpretation, and discussion of the results led to the following key findings: a statistically significant positive correlation was found between digital self-efficacy, future orientation, and students' attitudes toward AI applications. Additionally, significant differences were observed in digital self-efficacy, future orientation, and students' attitudes (both at the subscale and total score levels) based on gender, favoring male students. Furthermore, significant differences were found based on research stage (PhD, Master's, Special Diploma), favoring PhD students. The study also revealed that students' attitudes toward AI applications can be predicted based on their digital self-efficacy and future orientation.
