Educational Applications of the Theory of Creative Problem Solving "TRIZ" in Addressing University Students' Academic Problems in Light of Modern Educational Trends

Abstract

This research aims to explain the concept of the theory of creative problem solving “TRIZ” and identify the principles of the theory that can be employed in treating university students’ academic problems, then highlighting the educational applications of the theory in treating university students’ academic problems.The researcher used the deductive method, and the results of the research were as follows: Among the most important academic problems of a university student are: inappropriate academic specialization, weak motivation for academic excellence, dependence on others to do assignments and reports, the large number of study assignments (research - assignments - tests - memorization), and the student’s difficulty in comprehending the intensive course content. The TRIZ theory originally arose in the engineering, industrial, and technical fields, and then moved to educational sciences. One of the most prominent solutions to address the problem (the student’s difficulty understanding the intensive course content), based on the principle of: division (compartmentalization): Convert the course into audio material and then listen to, for example, 10 minutes daily. One of the most prominent solutions to solve the problem (the large number of academic assignments is “research - assignments - tests - memorization”), based on the principle: early action or preliminary action: Taking the initiative to prepare a file for each course before the start of study? in order to? Storing everything related to each course and making it easy to access.
