Environmental Dimensions included in the Islamic Education Textbooks of the Basic stage in the State of Palestine

Abstract

The study aimed to what extent the environmental dimensions included in the Islamic textbooks of the basic stage in the state of Palestine. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the content analysis in which the indicative idea was identified as unit of analysis to know the frequencies of the environmental indicators which they were 18 indexes. They were divided into four domains. The researcher developed a criterion and its Validity and reliability were confirmed. The population of the study consisted of all Islamic education textbooks. The results of the study found that the environmental components were most common in the textbooks of all grades where it came the first place which it repeated ( 319) times, (35.7%), the renewable resources came second with (136) repeated times, (15.2%), in the third place was the environmental health with (91) repeated times, (10.2%), noise pollution came fourth which was (58) times repeated,(7.2%), environmental types and permanent resources came fifth with (54) repeated times, (6.5%). Also, the results of the study showed that the less common environmental indexes were environmental adaptation, biodiversity, air pollution, water pollution and soil pollution. The study also found that the allocation of the environmental dimensions were unequal among the Islamic education textbooks. In the light of the results, the researcher recommended that a systematic environmental map for allocation of the environmental dimensions equally among the textbooks should be design. Also, the index of the environmental adaptation should be given great importance in the Islamic education textbooks of the basic stage.
