Professional Competencies Required for Arabic Language Education Students in Light of Sustainable Development Goals

Abstract

The current research aimed to identify a list of professional competencies necessary for Arabic language education students in light of sustainable development goals. To achieve this goal, the researcher followed qualitative research procedures to describe and interpret the problem, clarify its characteristics, and identify its features. An electronic questionnaire was designed on Google Forms, phrased based on a literature review and previous studies interested in competencies, as well as informal interviews with experts in the field of Arabic language curriculum and teaching methods. The purpose of the survey was to assess the level of professional competencies required for Arabic language education students, from the perspective of experts and specialists in Arabic language curriculum and teaching methods. The research community included all faculty members, assistant professors specializing in Arabic language curriculum and teaching methods at education colleges (Al-Azhar - general) in the Arab Republic of Egypt for the year 2023. The sample was chosen using the "convenient sample" method and consisted of 88 Specialized in Arabic language curriculum and teaching methods. The research identified a list of professional competencies necessary for Arabic language education students in light of sustainable development goals, according to the views of experts and specialists. The researcher recommended the importance of focusing on these competencies and incorporating them into the educational curricula for Arabic language education students.
