Modelling The Causal Relationship among Selective Sound Sensitivity, Behavioral and Emotional Problems, and Pragmatic Language Skills impairment In Children with ADHD.

Abstract

The current research aims to identify the mutual effects among selective sound sensitivity (misophonia), behavioural and emotional disorders, and pragmatic language Skills impairment in a sample of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The goal is to develop the best causal model that explains the direct effects and causal relationships among these variables, and to illustrate the pathways of relationships and mutual effects among these children.  The sample consisted of )201( children with ADHD, aged between )6 - 9 ( years, with IQ scores ranging from (100 – 110) on the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale (Fifth Edition).The researcher used questionnaire of the estimates of teachers and specialists for children with attention deficit hyperactivity , the selective Sound Sensitivity (Misophonia), and the Pragmatic Language Skills Scale(Prepared by the Researcher), the Behavioural and Emotional Disorders Scale for Children (developed by Jalal Jarar ,and others, 2016) . Using structural equation modelling and the AMOS program, the results of the research resulted in different levels of selective voice sensitivity in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder the model focused on pragmatic language Skills as a dependent variable. The results also showed a direct and indirect relationship among the research variables, and it is possible to predict poor social use skills of language through selective voice sensitivity and behavioural and emotional problems in children with attention deficit hyperactivity. The results also resulted in acceptance of the model in which behavioral and emotional problems mediate the relationship between selective sound sensitivity and poor of Pragmatic language skills.
