The Proficiency Level of Arabic Grammar Skills among Female Students in the Arabic Language Department at the University of Hail and Its Relationship to Their Attitude towards Studying in the Department

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the proficiency level of Arabic grammar skills among female students in the Arabic Language Department at the University of Hail and their attitudes toward studying in the department. Additionally, the study sought to examine the relationship between their Arabic grammar skills and their attitudes toward studying in the Arabic Language Department. The research adopted the descriptive methodology, utilizing two instruments: a skills test and an attitude scale. The study sample consisted of 45 female students from the Arabic Language Department at the University of Hail. The findings revealed that the proficiency level of Arabic grammar skills among the participants was generally moderate. There was variation in the attitudes of the participants, ranging between “agree” and “strongly agree” across all dimensions of the scale. Moreover, a positive and statistically significant correlation was found at the significance level (α ≤ 0.05) between the participants’ proficiency in Arabic grammar skills and their attitudes toward studying in the Arabic Language Department.
