The Effectiveness of A Program Based on Narrative Therapy in Reducing Alexithymia Among Female High School Students

Abstract

          The current study aimed to verify the effectiveness of a counseling program based on narrative therapy "storytelling" in reducing alexithymia through measurement, post-tracking and tracing, and to identify the level of alexithymia among members of the experimental group of secondary school students, and the experimental research sample consisted of (24) students who were intentionally selected who obtained high scores on the alexithymia scale, and the research tools consisted of the alexithymia scale prepared by (Al-Zahrani, 2019), The results of the research resulted in the existence of statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.01) between the averages of the grades of the members of the control and experimental groups in reducing alexithymia in the dimensional measurement in reducing alexithymia, and the differences were in favor of the experimental group, and there were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.01) between the averages of the grades of the experimental group members in the pre- and post-measurements, and the differences were in favor of the post-measurement, in addition to the absence of statistically significant differences between the dimensional and traceable measurements of the experimental group .
