The research problem revolves around the following question: What are the most important social and cultural determinants of compliments in the digital age? The research used the social survey method and the comparative method to compare rural and urban areas. The research used a data collection form prepared by the researcher, the Compliments and Family Cohesion Scale The research sample consisted of 400 individuals working at Al-Azhar University in various faculties in Cairo and Lower Egypt. The research results showed that the positives and negatives of courtesy differed according to the place of residence, and that there were statistically significant differences between the average degrees of the social and cultural dimension of courtesy, and courtesy as a total degree due to the variable of gender, place of residence and income, while there was a negative correlation between the social dimension of courtesy and the variable of age, and the absence of statistically significant differences due to the variable of social status. The research recommended a set of recommendations, the most important of which are: working on having a flexible family policy by activating participation in family responsibilities, as maintaining the family’s balance and strengthening its pillars is the responsibility of all its members, and developing media, advisory and awareness plans to highlight the importance of the role of compliments and methods of high taste between spouses.
