Abstract

The current study aimed to verify the psychometric properties of the vocational maturity scale for secondary school students. The vocational maturity scale in its final form consists of (30) statements distributed over five dimensions, namely (independence in choosing a profession, attitude toward work, self-awareness, interest in decision-making). Professionalism, realism and flexibility in the process of choosing a profession. The scale was applied to a sample of (120) high school students. The current study used the professional maturity scale (prepared by the researcher). Honesty was calculated using the arbitrators’ honesty method and vocabulary validity in order to ensure the validity of the scale. The scale's reliability indicators were also verified by calculating the Cronbach's alpha coefficient, where the Cronbach's alpha value for the dimensions reached: independence in choosing a profession (0.806), attitude towards work (0.798), self-awareness (0.815), interest in making a career decision (0.756), Realism and flexibility in the process of choosing a profession (0.780), and for the total score (0.878). The results of the statistical analysis of the research revealed the validity of the professional maturity scale for secondary school students with a high degree of validity and reliability, which indicates the possibility of trusting and relying on it.
