Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the extent to which social media platforms have a negative impact on the social relationships of high school students. To achieve this objective, a descriptive methodology was employed, utilizing a survey questionnaire to collect data. The sample consisted of 478 high school students, distributed according to various demographic variables such as gender, specialization, and province. The findings indicate a high degree of negative impact from social media on social relationships among high school students. Furthermore, there was a high level of agreement among the respondents on the proposed mechanisms to mitigate the negative effects of social media on social relationships. The study also found statistically significant differences in responses based on gender, with males showing a higher level of negative impact, while no significant differences were observed with respect to specialization or province.
