Practicing Management by Values by Deans of Faculties of Education at Al-Azhar University and its role in achieving the quality of work life for Faculty Members :A field study

Abstract

The research aimed for identifying the degree of practicing Management by Values by Deans of the Faculties of Education at Al-Azhar University and its role in improving the quality of job life for Faculty Members. To achieve this, the study used the descriptive method besides applying a questionnaire to a sample of “151” faculty members selected from faculties of education at Al-Azhar University. The research had concluded several results, including:

The degree of practice by Deans of Faculties of Education pertaining to Management by Values dimensions was at a moderate degree from the study sample’s point of view, with an arithmetic mean (2.29) & a standard deviation (0.54).
The availability degree of quality of work life dimensions for Faculty Members was at a moderate degree from the sample’s point of view, with an arithmetic mean (2.06) & a standard deviation (0.55).
There is a strong positive & statistically significant correlation at the significance level (0.01) between the degree to which Faculty Deans pertaining to practicing Management by Values dimensions & the availability degree of quality of work life dimensions for Faculty Members with a correlation coefficient (0.80).
There are no statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.05) at the sample’s responses according to job grade variable on the axis of Management by Values .The highest means were for the professor category with an average rank (83.81) while the lowest means were for the lecturer category with an average rank (74.26).
There are statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.01) at the sample’s responses according to the job grade variable on the axis of quality of work life. The highest means were for the assistant professor category with an average rank (97.52)while the lowest means were for the professor category with an average rank (33.86).
There are statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.05) at the sample’s responses according to the gender variable on the axis of management by values. The highest means were for the female category with an average rank (83.95) while the lowest means were for the male category with an average rank (67.04).
There are statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.01) at the sample’s responses according to the gender variable on the quality of work life axis. The highest means were for the female category with an average rank (90.33) while the lowest means were for the male category with an average rank (59.85).
There are statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.05) at the sample’s responses according to the number of years of experience variable on the axis of management by values. The highest means were for the category of 5 to 10 years with an average rank (85) while the lowest averages were for the category of more than 10 years with an average rank (60.44).
There are statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.01) at the sample’s responses members according to the number of years of experience variable on the axis of quality of work life. The highest means were for the category of 5 to 10 years with an average rank (101.93) while the lowest means were for the category of more than 10 years with an average rank (40.29).

     In the light of the above- mentioned results, a set of proposals were set  that may contribute to activating practicing Management by Values by Deans of Faculties of Education to improve the quality of work life for Faculty Members.
