Abstract

The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of a cognitive-behavioral counseling program in alleviating academic pressures among graduate students at Mu’tah University, among a semi-experimental sample consisting of (30) male and female students, They were distributed equally into two groups: an experimental group and a control group. To achieve the objectives of the study, two study tools were developed, which are an academic stress scale and a collective counseling program. Their psychometric properties were confirmed. The study found that there were statistically significant differences in alleviating academic stress due to the counseling program. There are no statistically significant differences for the follow-up and post-test, which indicates the continuity of the program. In light of these results, the researchers recommended: holding periodic meetings between graduate students and university administration to hear their opinions and problems, and educating faculty members about the importance of guidance programs for their contribution to alleviating pressures. Academic studies among university students and the possibility of providing possible solutions.
