Abstract

Psychoanalysis theory proposed and declaired the role of unconscious in developing defence mechanisms (D.Ms). Behavioral theory clearifies that D.Ms are means for dealing with frustrating situations.
Highly creatives (H.Cs) have their own levels of abilities, believes, attitudes and a set of asocial and contradictory traits.
H.Cs face a lot of different stressful situations i.e general, specific, situational and societal. They interact with these stressful resources through a set of intermediating variables i.e. duration and severity of the stress, ego strength and emotional stability and finally evaluation of the stress and its effect.
D.Ms of H.Cs are the result of that interaction. D.Ms could be positive as substitution and sublimation, or negative as repression, suppression of creativity, and psychological upsets and mental illness.
D.Ms of H.Cs are functional forms of behavior that interact interchangeably and instrumentally with creativity.
