Abstract

The research aimed to identify the relative contribution of attachment styles and emotion regulation in predicting some behavioral problems (aggression, anxiety, withdrawal) in children with developmental language disorder. In addition to revealing differences between children with developmental language disorder in attachment styles, emotion regulation, and behavioral problems according to the gender variable. The basic research sample consisted of (70) male and female children with developmental language disorder, distributed into (52) male and (18) female children enrolled in kindergarten in the cities of Zagazig and Haha in Sharkia Governorate, whose ages ranged from (4.6-6). Years, with an average age of (64.08) months, and a standard deviation of (6.025). A number of tools were applied, including the Developmental Language Disorder Scale (prepared by Abdelaziz Al-Khakhsab et al., 2017), the Attachment Styles Scale for children with developmental language disorder (prepared by the researcher), and the Emotion Regulation Rating List in Childhood (prepared by: Shields & Ciccheti, 1997, translated by: Iman Muhammad). Abdul Rahman 2017), and a measure of behavioral problems for children with developmental language disorder (prepared by the researcher). The results revealed the possibility of predicting some behavioral problems through the two styles of secure and troubled attachment in children with developmental language disorder. The results also indicated the possibility of predicting the problem of aggression through emotion regulation. . It also showed that there are no differences between children with developmental language disorder according to gender (males and females) in attachment styles, except for the resistant attachment style and emotion regulation in the direction of females, while significant differences were found between members of the sample in behavioral problems in the direction of males.
