The Readiness of Emerging Saudi Public Universities to Transition to The New University System in Light of The Dimensions of Strategic Agility

Abstract

            The study aimed to determine the readiness of emerging Saudi public universities to transition to the new university system in light of the dimensions of strategic agility. The study relied on a descriptive survey approach using a questionnaire. The study was conducted on random sample of 370 faculty members in fiveuniversities (Najran- Majmaah- Jeddah- Tabuk -Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal). The main findings were: The level of practice of the Saudi universities for theDimensions of strategic agility was medium at a mean score of 3.18, With a standard deviation of 0.99, it was ranked third after "Practice Agility" with a mean score of 3.11, With a standard deviation of 1 . The level of emerging Saudi public universities meeting the requirements for transitioning to the new university system was at a medium level of 3.30.The results showed appositive relationship between the two variables "Strategic Agility" and the degree of fulfillment of the requirements for transition was 0.84 and the coefficient of determination was0.71.The predictability of the dependent variable (the degree of fulfillment of the requirements for transition to the new university system) by the independent variable (the degree of practice of strategic agility).The regression coefficient was 0.438, which is statistically significant.The study recommends strengthening strategic agility practices in all its dimensions (sensing agility, decision-making agility, and Application(practice) agility) in emerging Saudi universities.
