Obstacles to implementing governance in the Egyptian Boxing Federation

Abstract

            The current research aims to identify the organizational, material, human and legislative obstacles to applying governance within the Egyptian Boxing Federation. The research sample consisted of (80) members of the boards of directors, players, coaches and administrators of the boxing teams, and the researcher used the questionnaire as a tool for collecting data. The results of the study showed that despite The existence of regulations and systems that allow the application of governance to avoid errors and to ensure transparency and practice accountability. However, there are obstacles that prevent the implementation of governance in the Egyptian Boxing Federation, including weakness in planning and coordination by senior management, as well as weakness in coordination between administrative units, and that among the most prominent factors that hinder the application Governance in sports institutions is the influence of leaders and their control over all matters, and that there is a weakness in the use of the Internet to exchange information electronically, and that the reality is limited to carrying out administrative work and receiving files and information manually. The study recommended the importance of applying the principles of democracy within the Egyptian Federation, and conducting a periodic evaluation of the application. Governance principles according to the variables of each stage and obligating all employees to apply correction procedures, complete clarity in dealings and making all information, decisions and activities related to the union’s policies available to ensure transparency, providing all legal rights to everyone to ensure accountability, taking into account equality between all union members in rights and duties and that the choice Committees, coaches, referees and players on the basis of competence and merit.
