Perceptions of Hail University Students About the Advantages and Obstacles of The Trimester System

Abstract

            This study aimed to reveal the perceptions of Hail University students about the advantages and obstacles of the trimester system. The study sample consisted of (636) male and female students in the academic year 2022/2023. The study relied on the descriptive survey method and Arithmetic means, standard deviations, and analysis of variance were used to answer the study’s questions. The results indicated that trimester system has several advantages, including: It provides a greater opportunity to re-register academic subjects in the event of failure or withdrawal.  The results revealed a number of obstacles, including: It leads to Pressure in studying, which causes students to lose the joy of university life, and lack of sufficient time to attend training courses.  The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences at (α≥0.05) in the average estimates of Hail University students for the advantages and obstacles of the trimester system due to the variables of academic field, program, and cumulative average, and there were no statistically significant differences due to the gender variable.
