Abstract

The study aimed to identify the uses of the generative artificial intelligence tool Chat GPT in education and the challenges facing its use. To achieve this, a systematic review was used to collect secondary data, critically evaluate the studies selected for review, and then compile the results in their quantitative and qualitative forms. The data was obtained by reviewing the results of studies published since the launch of the Chat GPT tool in November 2022 by Open AI in the following databases: (Dar Al-Mandumah Science direct-ERIC-MDPI-Web of science-Sage journal-), and included The research sample included (15) Arab and foreign studies, and the study reached a number of results, most notably: Chat GPT was used in education with the aim of designing and planning lessons, evaluating students, and providing personalized education. Chat GPT also contributed to teaching languages and developing writing and reading skills, and it can also be used As a tool for research, providing immediate feedback, it is also suitable for students with special needs. The most prominent challenges of using Chat GPT in education that were identified include: data privacy, bias, ethical issues, accuracy and integrity of content, and the need for training and maintenance. Relying on it also leads to neglecting many skills, including creative and critical thinking skills. The current study recommended searching for advanced teaching methods and strategies that are compatible with Chat GPT, and taking advantage of the huge amount of sources and resources available in it in order to support students to innovate, as well as the necessity of conducting local studies on Chat GPT, the way it is used, and the challenges facing its application.
