Analysis of Listening Texts in Language Courses in The Primary Grades in Light of Listening Comprehension Skills

Abstract

The aim of the study was to analyze listening texts in the language course in elementary grades in the light of listening comprehension skills. To achieve the purposes of the study, a list of listening comprehension skills was prepared, represented by direct literal skills, deductive skills, critical skills, and creative skills. A content analysis card was prepared, and the authenticity and stability of the tool was verified.
     The sample of the study consisted of all listening texts in the language courses in the initial grades of(24) texts, and the results of the study showed that the degree of observance of listening comprehension texts in the language course (1) was respectively: deductive (46.91%) with a high degree, direct literal (35.80%) with a high degree, creative (9.88%) with a weak degree, criticize (7.41%) with a weak degree, and in the language course (2) ranking: direct literal (34.67%) with a high degree, deductive (30.67%) with a high degree, criticize (21.33%) with an average degree, creative (13.33%) with a weak degree, and in the language course(3) were respectively: Direct craftsmanship by (34.78%) with a high degree, deductive by (31.52%) with a high degree, critical by (17.39%) with an average degree, and creative by (16.30%) with a weak degree.
     The results of the analysis showed that the consideration of listening texts for creative listening comprehension skills came to a weak degree in the language course (1), (2) and(3), and the results indicated that the most common textual structures are direct and deductive literal structures.
     The study recommended: the need to choose listening texts in light of their textual structure, so that these texts come varied and balanced. And to benefit from the list of listening comprehension skills that the study found in the language courses at the elemantry stage, with the need to take into account listening texts according to their textual structure of creative listening comprehension skills in particular, as they came to a weak degree in all the courses of the first grades.
