Mechanisms of internationalizing university education in Egypt in light of the dimensions of world-class universities

Abstract

       The current research aimed to develop a set of mechanisms for the internationalization of university education in Egypt in the light of the dimensions of world-class universities. The research used the descriptive analytical approach to identify the most important mechanisms of internationalization of university education in the light of the dimensions of world-class universities, using the research tool (questionnaire) directed to a group of experts from faculty members and some directors of scientific and cultural departments and scholarship management and expatriates in some Egyptian universities, whose number reached (108), and the research tool consisted of three main axes: education quality, scientific research quality, governance, independence and availability resources. The research concluded that the degree of importance of the total mechanisms of internationalization of university education in Egypt in light of the dimensions of world-class universities came at the level of "significant" with an arithmetic mean of (2.52). The calculation of the confidence interval for the arithmetic mean of the study population at a confidence level of 95% indicated that it ranged between (2.42) and (2.61) which confirms the great importance of 3these mechanisms. The research also found that there are statistically significant differences according to the academic degree variable in the favour of the ‘professor’ category, and there are no statistically significant differences according to the variables of gender and administrative position. The research recommended the need to include the dimensions of world-class universities in the vision and mission of Egyptian universities, and the need to activate cooperation and twinning agreements between Egyptian universities and international universities with distinguished academic reputation.
