Abstract

The current research aimed to develop a suggested proposal based on communicative theory for the professional development of art education teachers from the perspective of experts and specialists. The study utilized the descriptive methodology to fulfill the research purpose. The research sample consisted of (65) experts and specialists in Kuwait. The research instruments included a list of communicative theory principles and a questionnaire on the application of communicative theory principles in the professional development of art education teachers. The study yielded several results, including the positive role of employing communicative theory principles in the professional development of art education teachers. The results indicated that the highest-rated principles in terms of their application of communicative theory were timely decision-making with a very high relative weight (4.67), followed by the link between learning elements and reality with a very high relative weight (4.64), Additionally, seeking new knowledge received a very high relative weight (4.63), followed by collaboration and engagement in learning during the acquisition of educational experiences with a very high relative weight (4.45). Furthermore, diversity of opinions and perspectives on the content of art education received a very high relative weight (4.32), and effective and continuous communication within and outside the learning environment received a very high relative weight (4.28). The research results indicated no statistically significant differences related to the gender variable, while statistically significant differences were found in favor of academic specialization and higher years of experience. Based on these findings, the current research recommended that educational authorities focus on the principles of communicative theory and their significance in the professional development of art education teachers.
