Requirements for Teaching Students with Learning Disabilities in Light of Their Characteristics and Educational Needs

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the requirements for teaching students with learning disabilities in light of their characteristics and educational needs. To achieve this goal, the study employed a descriptive approach with a philosophical analytical style. The study comprised a general framework and four main dimensions as follows: The general framework included the study's introduction, problem statement, research questions, objectives, significance, methodology, terminology, previous studies, and comments on them. The second dimension presented the conceptual framework of learning disabilities, including the concept of students with learning disabilities, types of learning disabilities, causes of learning disabilities, characteristics of students with learning disabilities, methods of identifying learning disabilities, and theories explaining learning disabilities. The third dimension discussed the development and features of learning disabilities programs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, covering the origin and evolution of learning disabilities programs in the Kingdom, regulations and organizational rules for learning disabilities programs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The fourth dimension explored the requirements for teaching students with learning disabilities, including: First, the utilization of modern techniques in teaching students with learning disabilities. Second, the activation of interventions for learning disabilities. Third, the creation of a suitable school environment for students with learning disabilities. Fourth, meeting the educational needs of students with learning disabilities. The study concluded with key findings, recommendations, and proposals.
