Abstract

The current study aimed to present a suggested proposal for an Internet of Things-based university learning resource center. This was achieved by identifying the necessary requirements for implementing the Internet of Things in university learning resource centers. The study also assessed the current status of these centers and the challenges they face when adopting Internet of Things technologies. The research utilized a descriptive methodology and employed a questionnaire with three dimensions. This questionnaire was administered to a purposive sample of 97 experts and faculty members specializing in computer science, communications, information technology, and information security during the first semester of the academic year 1444. After processing the data using SPSS, the study arrived at the following results: Identification of a set of key requirements for implementing the Internet of Things in university learning resource centers, including organizational, material, technical, and cybersecurity requirements, each encompassing multiple sub-requirements, totaling 24; highlighted the importance of the Internet of Things in university learning resource centers; assessed the current status of these centers and the challenges facing those utilizing Internet of Things technologies. Based on these findings, the study recommended the utilization of the suggested proposal in establishing Internet of Things-based university learning resource centers, meeting the study's identified requirements, drawing from the experiences of advanced countries in the field of the Internet of Things, and addressing the challenges faced by Internet of Things-based learning resource centers.
