Psychological stress and its relationship to professional self-efficacy among student mentors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Abstract

The aim of the research is to examine the relationship between manifestations of psychological stress and professional self-efficacy among student counselors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to detecting differences in the level of psychological stress and professional self-efficacy according to the number of years of experience they have (high job experience and low job experience). The number of participants reached 32 student counselors working in private schools affiliated to the General Administration of Education in Makkah Al-Mukarramah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, their ages ranged from 24-27 years, with an average of 24.9 and a standard deviation of 1,092. The two measures of psychological stress and professional self-efficacy (prepared by researcher),  The results revealed a statistically significant negative correlation between the dimensions of psychological stress and the total degree and between the dimensions of professional self-efficacy. When there were no differences between them on the professional self-efficacy scale. The research recommended the preparation of programs to develop the professional skills of student counselors to improve their professional self-efficacy and reduce their psychological stress.
