A Proposed Perception for the Internationalization of Scientific Researchfrom the Viewpoint of Faculty Members at the College of Education - Al-Azhar University

Abstract

  The internationalization of scientific research and the globalization of higher education has become one of the basic research topics in higher education through the presentation of scientific papers and publication in specialized journals and conferences. The internationalization of scientific research is a reality among higher education institutions. Therefore, universities use a variety of strategies to achieve internationalization, which depends on cooperation in the field of scientific research between faculty members in local universities and various universities internationally. Accordingly, faculty members in their universities must be able to use the language of dealing with cultural differences, which requires university leaders to provide support and training to prepare faculty members and help them to successfully engage in the internationalization of scientific research through international mobility. Internationalization in the field of scientific research is seen as a process in which knowledge and information are exchanged through attending conferences, publishing scientific research, or communicating via the Internet. In addition, research cooperation can enhance the potential vision of working using the international knowledge communication network. The research sample consisted of (100) faculty members at the College of Education - Al-Azhar University. To achieve the goal of the research, a scale was prepared that aims to measure the perception of faculty members at the College of Education - Al-Azhar University towards the internationalization of scientific research. The results indicated that:
- The total mean of the items of the scale as a whole was (2.90), which indicates that the responses of the sample members on this scale were (high), meaning that the sample members agree with most of the items of this scale, which indicates that the degree of perceptions of faculty members proposed to internationalize scientific research is high.
- It was noted that the third factor (institutional support) ranked first, followed by the second factor (professional development), then in the third place, the fourth factor (research cooperation), then in the fourth place, the fifth factor (international publishing), then in the fifth and last place, the first factor (joint supervision). According to the results of the research, a set of appropriate educational recommendations were made.
