Abstract

The internationalization of programs or curricula is one of the most important aspects of the internationalization of university education; as it increases the options available to local students to acquire knowledge, attitudes, values, and skills that contribute to strengthening the international competencies of students. Although both of internationalization of education and cultural pluralism themes occupy a large area of interest of researchers in the field of educational sciences, it was noticed that there is a lack of research literature that dealt with the requirements of internationalization of teacher preparation programs in the light of the principles of multicultural education. Therefore, this study tried to: explore the requirements of internationalization of educational preparation programs for teachers in the light of the principles of multicultural education. To achieve this goal, this descriptive study followed the following methodological procedures:
-A survey of the educational research literature with the aim of extrapolating what is related to the internationalization of teacher preparation programs and the principles of multicultural education.
-Analyzing educational preparation programs for teachers to reveal the reality of the internationalization of these programs in the light of the principles of multicultural education.
-A survey of the opinions of (44) experts concerned with educational preparation programs to determine a list of the most important requirements for the internationalization of educational preparation programs for teachers in the light of the principles of multicultural education.
The study reached several results, the most important of which were:
- The study sample of education experts reported the importance of all the requirements of internationalization of educational preparation programs for teachers in accordance with the principles of multicultural education, to a very large extent.
- The results of the analysis showed that educational preparation programs rarely include the requirements of internationalization of programs in accordance with the principles of multicultural education, and that the educational preparation courses that most included these principles were: scientific culture, Islamic education, and comparative education.
In light of these results, the study suggested several procedures for the internationalization of educational preparation programs for teachers in the light of the principles of multicultural education.
