The Reality of Services Provided for Orphans and Suggestions for Their Development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the reality of services for orphans from the perspective of orphanage workers and the orphans themselves, as well as to understand the obstacles they face and propose a development plan for the services provided to orphans in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in light of its social care policy. The descriptive method was utilized, which focuses on accurately describing a phenomenon, as it suits the nature of the current study's objective to determine the reality of social care provided to orphans in Saudi Arabia from their perspectives. The research sample included (945) orphans in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and (123) orphanage workers. Based on the nature of the data and the research method, the questionnaire was deemed the most appropriate tool for achieving the study's objectives. The questionnaire aimed to uncover the reality of social care services provided to orphans in Saudi Arabia from their perspectives and to identify the obstacles faced by orphanage workers. The study's results revealed that gender is not a significant factor influencing the sample's opinions on service provision, obstacles faced, proposed solutions, or creative suggestions for enhancing orphan care methods. The results indicated convergence of opinions within the sample according to the qualification variable, and the qualification variable was not a significant factor influencing the sample's opinions on all questionnaire dimensions. Similarly, there was convergence of opinions within the sample according to the experience variable, and the experience variable was not a significant factor influencing the sample's opinions on all questionnaire dimensions.
