The effect of using a growth mindset on motivation for learning and productive

Abstract

The study aimed to find out the effect of using a growth mindset on motivation for learning and productive thinking among students of Al-Husn College at Al-Balqa Applied University. The study followed the semi-experimental approach, and the study sample consisted of students of the vocational education technology course, enrolled in the second semester of the academic year 2022/2023. The students were divided into two groups, the experimental group, which was taught according to the developed practices of the method, which is the growth mindset; While the control group studied in the usual way. Where the number of students reached (63) male and female students distributed into two groups (31) male and female students for the experimental group and (32) male and female students for the control group. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, a measure of learning motivation and a measure of productive thinking was developed by the researchers. The results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the students of the two experimental groups that were taught using the method of growth mindset practices and productive thinking, and the scores of students in the control group that were taught in the usual way on the two scales of the study. The results were in favor of the experimental group. In light of the results of the study, the researchers presented a set of recommendations.
