Abstract

The current study aimed to find out the causal relationship between self-compassion, multidimensional perfectionism, and test anxiety among secondary school students, as well as detecting differences in the study variables (self-compassion with its dimensions, multidimensional perfectionism, and test anxiety) depending on the type variable, and knowing the possibility of reaching a causal model that explains The relationship between the variables of multidimensional perfectionism and the variables of self-compassion with its dimensions (self-kindness versus self-judgment, common humanity versus isolation, mental alertness versus excessive autism) and test anxiety. The study sample consisted of (495) male and female secondary school students, including (201) male and (294) female students, whose ages ranged between (15-18 years), with an average age of (16.44) and a standard deviation of (0.766). Self-compassion for young people by Nell et al. (Neff et al., 2021). Rebecca & Fraenze, 2020. Translated and standardized by the researcher. The Modified Test Anxiety Scale (CTAR) by Cassady, & Finch. 2015) Translated and codified by the researcher, and the results found: There is a statistically significant negative correlation between the dimensions of self-compassion (self-kindness versus self-judgment and mental alertness versus excessive autism) as well as the total score and test anxiety, while there was no correlation between the humanity dimension versus Isolation and test anxiety, there is a statistically significant positive correlation between the dimensions of self-compassion (self-kindness versus self-judgment and humanity versus isolation and mental alertness versus excessive autism) as well as the total score and between the dimension of positive adaptive perfectionism (the pursuit of excellence), in addition to the existence of a negative correlation Statistically significant between the dimensions of self-compassion (self-kindness versus self-judgment and mental alertness versus excessive autism) as well as the total score and the dimension of negative adaptive perfectionism (concern about mistakes), while there was no statistically significant correlation between the dimension of self-compassion (humanity versus isolation) And between the dimension of negative non-adaptive perfectionism (concern about mistakes), as well as there was no statistically significant correlation between the dimensions of self-compassion or its total degree and the dimension of negative non-adaptive perfectionism (contradictory). Also, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between multidimensional perfectionism (concern about errors). , striving for distinction, contradiction) and test anxiety, as for the differences between the two types in the variables of the study, there were statistically significant differences at the level (0.05) between boys - girls in the human dimension versus isolation in the direction of boys, while there were no statistically significant differences between Boys - girls in humanity versus isolation and mental alertness versus excessive autism, as well as the total score, and statistically significant differences were found at level (001) between boys - girls in multidimensional perfectionism in favor of girls in all dimensions of multidimensional perfectionism (concern about errors, The pursuit of excellence, inconsistency, and the total score), and statistically significant differences were found at the level (001) between boys and girls in test anxiety in favor of girls, and the results were discussed in light of the literature and previous studies.
