The Effectiveness of a Cognitive-Behavioral Counseling Program in Developing Psychological Well-Being and Reducing the University Dropout among Students with medical majors at Al-Quds University

Abstract

The study aimed to reveal the effectiveness of a cognitive-behavioral counseling program in developing psychological well-being and reducing the university dropout among students of medical majors at Al-Quds University. To achieve the aim of the study, the designs experimental was used with a pre-post design for two equal groups. The study sample consisted of (60) male and female students based on the lowest scores on the psychological well-being scale, and the highest scores on the university dropout scale. The experimental group consisted of (30) male and female students who underwent treatment (training using a behavioral cognitive counseling program). The psychological well-being scale, the university dropout scale, and the cognitive behavioral counseling program were used. The results showed that there were statistically significant differences in the level of psychological well-being and university dropout in the post-measurement, and the differences were in favor of the experimental group.
