Abstract

The current study aimed to evaluate the role of reflective writing in learning the research methods course in education and psychology from the point of view of postgraduate students at the College of Education, University of Bisha, and its reflection on cognitive, skill, and affective outcomes, and the transmission of the impact of learning. The qualitative approach was used in the study, and the number of participants reached (27). Participants in the master's program from different departments. The reflective writing questionnaire was applied as a pre- and post-preparation tool, and a post-interview was conducted with the participants to assess the role of reflective writing from their point of view. The analysis of the reflective writing forms and the post-interview of the participants showed positive attitudes towards it, and that it is of value in understanding and learning topics. The course also indicated that it contributed to the development of critical thinking and metacognitive for them, and that it was an enjoyable and useful experience on the academic and personal levels, and the impact of learning was transferred to other similar educational situations.
