Abstract

This study aimed at exploring the effect of the interaction between different support times and cognitive styles via cloud learning environments on developing decision making skills among information and library specialists. Participants of the study were 120 specialists at Al-Azhar Library and Azhari Institutes libraries. They were assigned into four experimental groups (30 participants for each group) and they responded to a scale of decision-making skills. The treatment material comprises a virtual environment based on some cloud computing applications. The results of the study revealed a statistically significant difference at 0.05 level between the mean scores attained by the experimental groups who studied using the cloud learning environments in favour of the posttest of decision-making skills regardless of their cognitive style and support time. The results also revealed that there are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the participants regarding decision making skills that can be attributed to the cognitive style, support time of the interaction between both.  The study recommended the need to make use of the virtual environment to deliver training programs that might address different research variables, such as information awareness, decision making, and problem solving.
