A proposal for improving Al-Azhar University digital capabilities according to the Strategic Alliances

Abstract

The study aimed at suggesting a proposal for improving Al-Azhar University digital capabilities according to the strategic alliances. For this purpose, the study adopted the descriptive approach, utilizing the unstructured personal interviews for identifying the current digital capabilities of Al-Azhar University with regard to digital infrastructure, digital skills, digital knowledge and digital communication. In addition to that, the study utilized the questionnaire so as to define the requirements for improving digital capabilities at Al-Azhar University according to the Strategic Alliances. The study sample included (48) academic leaders and (156) faculty members at Al-Azhar University in Cairo. The data were analyzed using the SPSS program. The results indicated that there weren't statistically significant differences at (0.05) level in terms of the degree of importance of “the requirements for improving digital capabilities at Al-Azhar University according to the strategic alliances” in the total number of the questionnaire axes according to the job variable, regarding the requirements related to (potential ally - institutional performance of Al-Azhar University - digital integration). The study presented a proposal for improving the digital capabilities of Al-Azhar University according to the strategic alliances, including a diagram for the relationship between Al-Azhar University and the potential allies, besides a description of the basic desired elements of digital capabilities at Al-Azhar University. Finally, the opinions of some experts among the faculty members who have experience in the field of research partnership or strategic alliances at the Egyptian universities were surveyed for investigating the proposal.
