Abstract

The aim of the research is to reveal the effectiveness of teaching a unit supported by prominent electronic maps in developing some spatial thinking skills and geographical sense among the visually impaired in the preparatory stage. The semi-experimental approach was used with two groups (control and experimental) before / after. In the third preparatory grade at Al-Noor School for the Blind in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, they were divided into two groups: control (8) students, and experimental (8) students. Teacher's guide, activity booklet and student's guide), while its tools included (a test of spatial thinking skills, and a scale for the dimensions of geographical sense). The results of the search resulted in a statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05 ≥ α) between the mean ranks of the students of the control and experimental research groups in the post application of the spatial thinking skills test and the geographical sense scale; This indicates that there is an effect of teaching the unit supported by prominent electronic maps on the development of some spatial thinking skills and the geographical sense of the visually impaired in the preparatory stage, in addition to the existence of a correlation between each of the spatial thinking skills and the geographical sense.
