A developed teaching unit in social studies based on enrichment activities and their impact to development of some values of citizenship and cognitive performance among third year preparatory students

Abstract

  The aim of the current research is to determine the impact of enrichment activities in the teaching of social studies to development some of the values of citizenship and cognitive performance of third-grade preparatory students,and to achieve this goal, the values of citizenship and the components of knowledge performance have been identified, and to build unity based on enrichment activities in teaching the unity of Egypt (Scale of values -Situational cognitive performance test), And the unit was applied to a sample amounting to(60)A third-grade preparatory student at qalma Preparatory School in kaliobeya governorate, divided into two experimental and control groups, representing the curriculum used ( Descriptiondistribution -Experimental with semi-experimental design),Based on statistical processing, the research results can be summarized as follows : Statistically significant differences exist at a significant level (0.01) Between the average scores of students of the experimental and control groups in the dimensional application of the citizenship values scale and the situational cognitive performance test, for the benefit of students of the experimental group,and the existence of a positive correlation between the levels of cognitive performance and the values of citizenship ,which indicates the impact of enrichment activities in enhancing citizenship values and students ' cognitive performance, the research made a number of recommendations indicating the importance of enrichment activities in Which encourages students to actively participate in educational situations، He also recommended the need to reconsider the curricula of social studies at the preparatory stage in the light of the values of citizenship and the component of cognitive performance .
