The level of critical thinking among Qassim University students in the light of some variables

Abstract

  The aim of the current research is to know the level of critical thinking among Qassim University students and to know the differences in the level of critical thinking among university students according to specialization, gender, academic level, and the effect of the interaction between independent variables (specialization - gender - academic level) and critical thinking. The study sample consisted of (1000 Male and female students) from various disciplines (medicine, pharmacy, Arabic, business administration, computer science, English, mathematics, biology, sociology) from the first and last levels. The researcher used a critical thinking test prepared by: RASCH, translated by Nabil Bahri 2007, Critical thinking in favor of females, and there are statistically significant differences in the specialization in favor of computer science, then medicine, then pharmacy, then the English language, and there were no statistically significant differences in relation to the academic level variable, and there was no interaction between the gender factor and the academic level, while an interaction appeared between Gender factor with specialization in critical thinking, where differences were found between male and female sample members who specialize in computer science, mathematics and biology in favor of females, and there was an interaction between the academic level factor with the specialization of the English language and their first and last level in favor of the last level, while there was no statistically significant interaction Among the three factors (gender - educational level - specialization) on critical thinking.
